I've got nothing close to the quality of the great shots above, but I'll contribute a few of my feeble attempts anyway...

Don't sell yourself short Mike...

The Hornet shot is outstanding and the John Mohr knife-edge is "Fine Art" quality!

Really Awesome!!

Well, a couple from today that you could call "different" -- the 100-400 at 400mm, with a 1.4x TC so 560mm, at f/11 with the 1D3:

Same exif, this is a close crop:

Nice stuff Tony! I've tried macro-ish shots with the 100-400 before, but never thought of trying it with a tc too. Except for space stuff, I've not had any luck using a tc.

Thank you Jay, I really appreciate it! I just keep trying and learning, hopefully someday I'll get something close to the quality of work you guys produce.

Yeah Mike, I've been pushing myself:)! I've gone out a couple times on walkarounds this week with only the one body, lens, and the TC, determined to make it work and get as good pics as I possibly could. And, part of my self-punishment, I only pack a monopod, no tripod:)!

It's been fun, though -- I've even managed to snag a BIF here and there, although sharp focus can be challenging:

Oh, I do have an "artsy" side to me that sneaks out sometimes between bouts of exhaust and prop blur. ;)

Well, this is a pretty close crop from the 100-400

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/94654772/original.jpg

This is an old favorite, taken with the 5D Classic three years ago with my new 300 f/2.8 IS and a 2x TC, so 600mm

How cool do you think it is to be Steve Hinton, Jr?
