Those moon shots have a very cool quality about them, Jay!

I think the moonrise being so close to sunset held the dynamic range back a bit so the moon isn't quite so stark.

Well, getting that overall mix of tones is awesome!

Thanks. I'm capable of general photography but aviation is what gets the blood really going.

About the only genre I won't actively persue is Weddings. I've shot at a couple as a guest (at the Bride's request .. check my People section) but I don't ever see myself as a primary shooter.

Heh! I'm with you there, man! I guess I'm lucky, I haven't been asked to shoot a wedding since, well, quite a bit before I got a DSLR, and the one time I was it was out of our time zone, too far away for me and a friend to make it to the ceremony, but probably just as well, 'cause my compact camera pretty well made a mess of the reception:)!

Same here with weddings, I would very much like to become more than just a "guy-with-camera", but I don't think I could handle shooting weddings, I've actually turned down a few requests to shoot them already. Anyway, back to the thread...

I use the 100-400 at 400mm A LOT so, here are a few more...

Amazing shots!!! I also have a 7D and 100-400, and you've inspired me to go practice with them.

Here's one of mine at 400mm...

Lol! It's not easy to forget is it? Those are from Oshkosh right? We made it for two days this year; the two with the cr@ppiest skies. He performs at Manitowoc almost every year, but I've never seen him stand up in the cockpit like that here, must've been something special just for Oshkosh:D

Thank you Brad! I like shooting with that lens much more with my 7D than with my old 40D, the extra ISO range really comes in handy with that lens. Nice shot too! Great prop blur!

Yup OSH...

I think that Sukhoi was at OSH as well but he only flew in the night show the last Saturday (I think.) I wasn't able to be on the flight line every day for the afternoon airshow.

Sure, Jay, I suppose you are going to say "Hey oh well I just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and the light was right", and blah blah blah...hmm, well, I guess that's a good defense...but of course you totally worked over that one in Photoshop, right:):)?

 You guys need to draw me a map to find that right place and right time if that's all it takes to get results like you, Jay and the others get, 'cause I've not even been in the right state on the right day yet:-)
