Is that the bird that makes loud dinosaur sounds? about 3 feet tall? I call it a Sea Turkey but don't know what it really is...

About the photo... Focus is on the wrong point... I would have tried to wait for it to look at you. Or tried. Animals are difficult.

I don't like the piece of grass that is overhanging the neck of the bird. I would try and post process that right out of there. All in all though I like the colors of the shot, and think it turned out better than the animal shots I typically capture.

The cardinal rule in any shot is that the eyes must be in focus if they're in the frame. The viewer's eye will always be drawn to them regardless of your photographic intentions. If you're doing a study on the feathers, as you appear to be doing here because they have the focus, crop out the head. You could also use a bit more depth of field because many of the feathers, as well as the head, are out of it. Also, clean up your background a little.

even though the birds head is not centered the photo still looks too centered. i would have moved the birds body out of the center or the frame.

Your focus landed on on of the legs, missing the ever important body and head;)

you're a great friend, but if Zombies chase us, I am tripping you.

Ditto what Joedlh said. Everyone else beat me to the punch on everything. And yes, that pink "spot" is very distracting.
