=//Cory Varcoe;11142969]These will more than likely be way too hot for use in a softbox.

I'm using a 2 fluro tubes. Most of my exposures are 10sec f14 iso200

Here are the results i'm getting...

Are the tubes DIY or did you purchase them as is. Battery powered or AC?

My village called. I was told that they missed me.

Speedotron users, untie!

^^ Very impressive, those are the results I'm striving for at some point in my future... how near it is depends on how much time I have to practice lol

Could this be considered "sufficient"?

I'd probably make a "sock" for it just to diffuse the light a bit, nothing too thick though I don't want to reduce output too severely.

Village_Idiot wrote in post #11144418 (external link)
The problem I see with that is that you may catch the individual LEDs in the paint and you'd have all those little streaks.

I started with something similar just a bit smaller, actually i still use it ocasionally, but your right you will every LED and it looks terrible. You can diffuse it but as mentioned you'll lose too much light. Even now with my tubes i wish they were brighter. I only use the LEDs for tight spots that my larger light can't reach and the ocassional engine bay.

I went to a electrical wholesales and brought a setup then added all the things i needed, switch, diffusion, brackets & handles etc. Mine are mains supply but i have an invertor for my car for when i'm on location.

Got any pictures of them? Details showing your add-ons and such?

Just picked this up tonight on sale at Princess Auto.

$28 dollars CAD and with 77 LED's I've already managed to burn my retinas 3 times while snapping these quick photos lol. I already have plans to make myself a small reflector I can bounce the light off of (i.e. a flexible cutting board and velcro straps) in order to avoid reflections of the LED's in the side of my Black truck. If I can get light painting down (of course with PP) on my black vehicle, I think any other colour will essentially be a breeze. I'm planning to head out Friday night with the mission of testing this out.

Yeah with LEDs you really need to create a beauty dish style reflector, well half of it anyway

That'd be very nice, if you're lucky you'll end up with a link in Frank's Signature :P I'm planning on heading out Friday, I'll take pictures of my setup, and whether or not I post photos from my set depends on how well the photos turn out lol.

I think you missed page 2 bud :p lol.

I may be shooting a red 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralli Art(the one I failed at before using my test light on my flash) Friday when I go out. She has kindly agreed to let me drive it again lol.

Hopefully I can get some positive results from the non-black vehicle lol.

The fact it's Fluorescent may give you a better spread and output than my LED light... Unfortunately with the current weather it's impossible to photograph a clean car, and my outting with that friend fell through.

I may try some snowmobile shots though...

I never got to shoot that Red Lancer, and with the current weather there is no clean car in existence.

I tried it on my Black truck, but it's a Black truck and the results really aren't worth sharing.

Light painting with the bright white LED flashlights can yield some great results. It takes patience. It usually takes me a few attempts to get the light in the right areas. Always keep it moving.
