I'm guessing that your lighting was too far away from the car. I think he works in very dark ambient with lights very close to the automobile. But I could be wrong.

^ i would think so to, seen this done and the guy was really close to my car and it was really dark.

i used an LED torch like the ones pictured in this thread, with a sleeve of regular printer paper over it to diffuse the light. held it about 5-8 feet from the surface. decent results so far! more detailed info on my blog: http://civitello.smugm​ug.com/Other/Blog (external link)
