Just asking for advice. I do use the 24-70 more than the 24 prime, its a great lens, but I don't know. The one thing I do NOT like about the 24-70 which the 24 prime wins over is just the little extra weight. I'm a big guy so I do not mind, but sometimes with the grip on and the heavier weight, it wears down on the shoulder tidbit. I'm debating whether I should just get rid of one of these and get myself the L macro that I wanted, or maybe use the $$ to fund a 16-35 mk2 and then sell my 17-35 and pick up a macro then ?

Any thoughts ?

I just ordered the 24L II, i have never owned the 24-70, but I did use one and wasn't impressed with it's sharpness. I would sell the 24-70 and get the 100L.

Just mho

I think they're totally different lenses. The 24L is 2 stops faster than the 24-70.

It's up to you what you're gonna choose. But maybe a 24-105 in place of your 24-70 is a sollution?

Imo if you don't use it, sell it and buy another lens/photo gear/trip or something else :)

I had both and sold the 24L, and I have not missed it. I have had a lot of lenses and have come to rely on my 24-70 for at least half of my photography. I actually have recently narrowed down my lenses to just two, but will probably add the 70-300 L when it comes out - in the past I seldom had fewer than 6 L series but I really started looking at what I most like to shoot with and the 24-70 kept winning. I also love, love, love that lens in use with extension tubes for closer shooting - I don't really do macro.

With the new upgrades in Lightroom 3, The Lens Corrections in the Develop Module clean this lens up even more when shooting at it's widest.

The 24-70 is just a really big winner for me. I started out with a 24-105 but later traded it in on a new 24-70 and just can't say enough good things about this lens.

24-70 wins for me. It might weight as much as a brick, but it's worth the weight.

Its not something that bothers me that much really. I thought when I picked up the 24mm I was going to use it more, but seems like its not being used because I have the choice of the 24-70. I think if I didn't own the 24-70 I would use the 24 more often, but then again....not sure.
