Hi. I don't have a card reader or cable right now so I can't upload images.

Could anyone please send me unprocessed SOOC 5d2 L jpeg files? I prefer sharpness at 0-3 if possible. I just got a 5d2 from CPL but I swear either something is wrong with mine or I'm just too picky. I know you guys all shoot RAW, but I'd like jpg files.

Any images, especially those of people's or animal eyes would be helpful.

I have a 30D and 1D2, and I swear that right now the images from these camera are clearer. Could I have gotten a dud?

Please send to mwakabay at gmail . com

Thanks so much.

If you're basing your opinion on what you're seeing on the LCD screen because you can't upload them into your computer, then you might wait until you can look at them in your computer before you make an assumption that there is something wrong with your camera.

Makes sense.

Hi. Sorry about that. I found a USB cable. Here's a pic with a 100% crop, 0 sharpening in L JPEG with center focus on cropped eye. Taken with a 100mm macro L at f2.8 1/160 sec. Am I being too picky? Thanks for your input.

The full image looks fine to me. The 100% crop can be sharper but then again you're not doing any sharpening. If you wanted a shot of the eyeball and you do have a macro lens, why not get up close and shoot that. Then you will be happy with the razor sharp image as you're filling the frame more.

If you wanted to test out sharpness, put it on a tripod and try out something thats stationary.

Thanks Kenny. No, I didn't want a macro shot of the eyeball. It's the only lens I have right now.
I guess I'm a little paranoid because I swear I've seen other shots that look absolutely razor sharp. But now that I think about it, it's probably just that I haven't done any PP, even within the camera. Here's just one more because I'm so paranoid. Focus on the bird.

Thanks again in advance for your time and input.

Honestly, my shots do look sharper than yours when I'm using my macro lens. My sharpness setting is set pretty high. 6/7 on standard picture style. And my macro is the 100L IS which prevents my shaky hands from ruining the shots. What was your shutter speed on this shot? The above shot looks more like subject movement or camera shake rather than OOF.

Here's your crop sharpened in CS5 (top; original below), but taking the two sample shots together they do seem a little less than stellar for your camera-lens combo.

These shots definitely benefit from some sharpening.

Thanks for your input. Just the last set of 2. The top has in-camera sharpening at 7, and the bottom has 0, taken at 1/2000 and 1/2500th respectively. I'm not sure if I should send this camera back, or if I'm just pixel peeping too much.

you are pixel peeping, what aperture are you shooting at?
Shots look fine to me apart from lack of dof which will affect sharpness

You might want to try some test shots on a fixed, high-contrast target, preferably with a tripod and good lighting, to see if there's an issue (for example, lens/AF needing micro-adjustment).

Shots looks pretty good, could technically be sharper but I think sharpening would change that a lot. I don't know how I compare to other users here, but I don't think I've ever had a camera that never missed focus by a hair or two at least sometimes. To me your shots look within the realm of normalcy. If everything you shoot has to be perfect as far as sharpness goes... go MF and maybe even use Live View.
