There isn't a better deal anywhere, right now, is there? Same price at Amazon.com today. I'd go with Amazon over Abes of Maine, personally. -Jeff

Uhh, why? A great piece of glass is a great piece of glass. Perhaps you would find the crop factor to make that lens a bit long, but perhaps he wouldn't. Not to mention, that it seems preferable to the 17-55 in case you ever DO go full frame. 5D2, 7D, 70-200 2.8L, 24-70 2.8L, 16-35L ii, 135L , 50 1.4, and other assorted goodies.

Either the range is going to be wrong now, or wrong later since it will suddenly be 1.6x wider on FF. Taylor

I wasn't really seriously trying to talk you out of it anyway and Amazon has a liberal return policy should you find the range not ideal. I'm not quite sure why everyone complains about focal length range on a crop VS full frame. yes there is a difference, yes 24 will be much wider on FF than on my crop... I'm mostly shooting portraits... this range is fine on either type of camera... if I need wider, I step back, if I need longer, I move forward. I'm not a flat-footed-photographer. (I'm using to shooting with only a 50mm....) Aaron
