it's same with mine...i just bought new 60D 18-55kit a week ago.

never used before in outdoor, and yesterday i tried this camera in the morning in out door, and wonder why my cam's viewfinder in all surface has tiny dot with evenly pattern.

i don't think so it's dust, because just like grid, but very smooth. it is very clear to see when i aim the camera to the white object/sky. i compared with other canon camera (7D or 550D), the different is so clear.

It bothers me too and I didn't notice it right away so I thought it was mold or condensation at first. It's on the focusing screen and I 'think' it goes away if you get ef-s screen that is optimized for fast glass.

I only noticed the "100's of little black dots" yesterday, when I used my 70-200L together with my 1.4x Extender for the first time since buying my 60D. I thought my lens was the problem, thank God I read this thread.

Why not? Most users getting a 60D will be upgrading from a rebel and the viewfinder in the rebel looks crystal clear while the 60D and other xxD cameras have this texture version(with black grainy dots) which to me at least looks worst...

or are you saying its in there and i haven't noticed it?

I went from a T1i to 60D and didn't notice anything. Except that the 60D is miles better to use. Maybe the ground glass is just a bit different from the Rebel, but I got used to that so much with my manual 35mm Minolta that it would seem quite normal to me. That graininess in the ground glass is intended to be a manual focus assist.

As far as the manual, I agree that there is no reason to put something like that in there.
