You know this reminds me! I bought my new laptop and i decided to opt for the i7 just to make sure it could eat all the high res and CS5 app's im running and i over looked one crucial thing!! This laptop is sick fast but it get ****ing HOT and i mean HOTTT sitting it on my lap starts tu almost burn and i have to make sure that the vest are not obstructed!

The processor runs apps and opens pics super fast but it also eats battery super fast too!!

something to think about before you buy

I think side by side, you get more for your money with a MacBook pro. The $ 1200 pro has 4gb ram and twice the HD space compared to the 13inch MBA for 1300.

With the air you get SSD and the resolution is equal to the 15 pro an only 2gb ram.

I chose the air because I have a badass i7 machine at home where i do all my editing. I won't miss the 2gig ram because the SSD free up enough cache to keep the computer fast. The MBP and MBA both have the same C2D

I kinda impulse bought but so far no remorse.

The more I think about this new Air, the more I like the idea. Especially since I plan on having a i5/i7 iMac at home for heavy use. I believe the new Air will be faster than my 2006 MBP with the 2 GHz core duo (not 2duo).

Ive been reading almost every review online, they all say the new Air is legit. A couple others have pointed out flaws but it's nothing you don't already know going into it. I knew I would be limited with 128gigs but I never download music, I stream it from rhapsody and pandora.
I don't plan to ever keep and RAW files stored on it, that's what my 1tb HDD on my PC is for and my 3 TBs of total external space...
I couldn't care less for an optical drive. Thanks to hulu and netflix I'll never need it to play movies. And I can't remember the last time I installed software from a CD I couldn't get from the manf. Website.
Don't care about the lack of a security lock because MbP, MBA, HP, Dell.... I'm never leaving a laptop anywhere I can't see it.

Just ran LR 3.2 pretty hard. Large local brush editing on full-size raws, no problem.

I'll install CS5 tommorow and give a test. The only thing I've ever run into a major problem with in CS5 before going to i7 was content aware tasks on large scale. So tha and filter-> liquify will be my test.

The only time i plan to really use this for photography is if the client wants some photos right there on the spot or something rare and I need to trashed, batch process and throw on a thumb drive. Other than that this is a badass netbook worth $1300

Can I ask why you didn't make the upgrade to 4 gigs?

Because I'm super impatient and impulsive and the store only had base models :)

The manager said if I don't feel the 2gig is enough for me he will let me return it without a restocking fee as long as I I'm upgrading.
He gave me his card with him explaining that and his signature.

I'm hoping they start carrying some modified models.

Is the slower processor an issue? I would like to get one too.

can't wait to here about your CS5 test.

i have a late 2008 13" unibody macbook, was planning on upgrading to a 13" or 15" mbp but now this new AIR is adding to the mix of decision making....

Well i've been using CS5 all day, just goofing around. Please note that I'm not a professional graphic artist or anything, i'm a hobbiest photographer with about 10 years exeperience using photoshop as a hobiest so my results may be different than your.

So far, I've found no issues running CS5. I've been using the spot healing tool to do some content aware editing (Power Line removal, people in the backgroup, trash cans and street cones) and havn't run into any issues. Its actually been quite fast for my liking.

For comparison issues, 2 months ago I was running on a single core AMD from 2004 with a xfx nvidia 7800gt using 1gb DDR

Now I'm running an i7 860 with 4gb DDR3 on a ATI 5760 HD

I would say the MBA with 1.8g and 2gb ram is running much more like my i7 than my AMD. I would suggest getting the 4GB of ram model, just to furture proof yourself. I'm probably going to wait a week or so and return my 2gb model for a 4gb model. (I acted on impulse when they hit the stores)'

Tonight i'll go ahead and install noise ninja, because that seems to be a very demanding plug-in for CS5 and will give my reports on that as well.

Aside from fraps, is there any recording software I could use to show you guys videos of the processes in action?

I played with 1.8GHz 13" model in stores today. Looks like a slick mac. It was light as a feather and lightning fast. Faster than my 2006 MBP with 2GHz CD with 2 GB ram. I like the new MBA. I want one. But the responsible thing for me is to keep carrying my old MBP and pick up my desired iMac for heavy use.

Just left the Apple store, returned the 2gb version of the MBA. I got the 4gig model. They told me over the phone they had it in stock and when I got there, they were mistaken. So I had to order it online. They gave me $50 towards the ram so it worked out. Now I have to wait until Monday, ill run more tests, and video it when I get it
