I'm trying to gather some info regarding the 7D focus issues, and whether the use of filter has any effect.

Does your lens have a filter on it, UV, CPL, etc? And does your 7D have focus issues?

Have you tried shooting with the filter removed?

I have both an UV and CPL for my tammy and 70-200, have a UV for my 50mm.

So far, haven't experienced any focusing issue so thats why I haven't tried shooting without them.

Edit: had back-focusing issues with the 50mm but thats not because of the filter, it was really the lens itself

What kind of issues do you have ?

Really only on my 50 1.4, seems to front focus. But I'm beginning to think it could be the UV filter.

UV filter on all time. I am also using my CPL, ND ( all screw-on filter are B+W) and Hitech system. I don't have focus issue at all.

No probs except I recently fine tuned all my lenses to make sure. They all were best at
zero microadjustment except for a 400mm 5.6 that was best at -1. I repeated the tests
with the 400mm on several other days to make sure and it always came out -1.

Those choices are relevant.

One could have a filter, and possibly have focus issues, or not, and vice versa.

It's not that complicated, sorry if your confused, everyone else seems to understand.

No filter. When camera was new I had a problem ONLY with my 85 f/1.8, which was fine on my 40D.
Canon repaired it, but it came back with a differnt focus problem in AI Servo. After the 2nd trip to Canon it was fine. Just recently the problem is back, I need to try the lens on my 40D to determine if it's the camera again or just the lens.

OT: The good news is that I just had 8x12 prints made which were shot with my 70-200 f/2.8 at an ISO of 3200 with slight NR applied in LR3and cropped. They're amazing! I was concernend about using my 70-200 at that ISO,(no flash allowed).

I don't know which one to vote (although i am x 7D user), your choice of wording is very very confusing (did i already mentioned very?).
But the 3 months i use 7D i didn't find any issue with its focusing system.
