Been reading a lot about light painting on here and thought Id go out in my driveway and test some shots out at different exposures and whatnot. I shot this with a florecent shop light at somewhere around a 15 second exposure with 7d and 17-40L. Pictures nothing special but turned out decent for a 10 minute session in the driveway:)

Also did a little been of tweaking in photoshop.

well, i'll offer up a bit of my limited knowledge instead of just a straight put down.

you need one of the following.
1) longer exposure
2) brighter light.
3) Higher iso (last resort)

first try a longer exposure and spend more time lighting the car.

it's fun once you start seeing results.

good luck dude

Ya, I was kinda going for the result that I got, The nose just slowly comming out of the light.

The car looked a little brighter in photoshop, which imo was just what I was looking for.

I did longer exposures, Ill edit one and post it up soon. Something about the car coming through the light in this one I liked quite a bit.

I uploaded it to photobucket and they always seem to desaturate the pictures.

Second shot is much better, I agree, a bit of ground under the car would probably help it. If weather will cooperate and let me keep my truck clean for more than 2 hours I want to take a kick at this.

OH, nice car btw

Thanks a lot for the nice comments I really appreciate it.

I thought about doing the roofline, but I kind of like it without, it gives it that look that its creeping into the light.

I guess thats just subjective. But Im pretty happy with the result so far.
