Order of Photo Editing Actions

Hi

I am preparing to edit my motor racing photos using Gimp (quite similar to Photoshop) and want to know in what order I should do things. The images are "au natural" without any camera enhancements. My research says that the last thing to do is sharpen, but what is the order of things like crop, colours, motion etc. I do not want to affect the quality unnecessarily.

If you didn't shoot RAW, I'd save after color & density corrections. Then crop, resize, sharpen, & Save For Web (or the GIMP equivalent) to keep the EXIF with the images.
