I'm going to take some pictures at the Redline Time Attack this weekend at Infineon Raceway.

Does anyone has experience with the 70-200 f/2.8L IS Mark II+ Canon 1.4x/2x extender? I'll probably be fine with the 1.4x to get enough reach, but would like to hear more on the image quality side of it.

TIA

I have them both but havn't really combined them much yet. I'm sure it would be fine though, even though a prime is always better ofc.

I'm told (fwiw) that the MkII takes TCs practically as well as say, the 300 f/2.8

1.4X is basically tranparent with a very slight hit using the 2X but nothing really objectionable.

The light-loss issue remains of course.

I will be getting the MKII tomorrow and my plan is to buy a Kenko 1.4 then save my money for the new Canon 2X III from what I have seen the MKII handles a 2X very well and the 1.4 is excellent

I've used the 70-200mm f/2.8 L II with my Canon 1.4x TC and the results are very nice. I have absolutely no complaints using that combination.

Here's an example at 280mm, f/4:
