I'm going to donate a framed photo for an auction basket and cannot decide which way to go as far as framing. It's a panorama, so it's not necessarily straight forward. The photo itself will be 12"x4". I do not want to go larger than that.

Option #1: Straight forward black frame...

Option #2: 11x14 frame with white mat with photo off-centered toward the top in black frame. This off-setting seems to be trendy of late.

I might go with a dark wood frame, also. Thoughts?

Note: Watermark will not be in finished product.

If donating, you will be better to put in a small in size plain black frame, and put your signature on the photo. More will be willing to bid keeping it simple, but they want that signature!!

Just an "ole dog" trying to learn "new tricks"! helpful advice is always welcome!!

It's going to be part of a "basket" with several items. The theme for the basket we are putting together is our local geographic area, of which this shot is from. Others will donate other misc local-themed items to round out the basket.

Anyway, I was thinking along the same lines as you and for the same reasons. Hadn't thought about signing it, though I had planned on identifying myself and business on the back.

Option #1 seems the best. Straight forward and drives your eyes to the image.
