I sent a PM to Jerry, but my question was pretty vague. I'm sure others have experimented with this. I currently have the single bracket with a single speedlight. After a recent location shoot where I chose not to use the speedlight configuration (because it felt too limiting) and ended up hauling a lot of heavy gear all over the place, I'm considering another path for this type of location shoot.

I'm considering getting the double bracket and another speedlight. With the speedo-Eli adapter, I'd be able to use Elinchrom modifiers with the dual speedlight configuration, and I'm thinking the new 70cm DO would be awesome for this.

It's relatively easy to see how to do this in manual mode, adjusting the power levels of each speedlight and metering with my light meter. What I'm wondering is if ettl is possible in this configuration. I'd be using a MiniTT on camera and I currently just have one FlexTT5. I suspect it's not possible to have a single FlexTT5 control the two speedlights, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask what others are doing. I also have PWII's I can use, if that helps. Thanks.

I think it is possible but going to cost. Look at Micheal Bass's web site. He sells setups like what you want. But they do cost so better to just add one more FlexTT5 to the picture. That is what I am thinking of doing with my photek.

You can just purchase the DBL vertical to avoid purchasing a DBL whole bracket. It's a option unless you have plans of using both speedlights with different modifiers at the same time. Because you will likely want to split the flashes up at some point..... I would just purchase a extra trigger. It will be much more flexible.

Cost aside, I'm wondering if dual speedlights with dual FlexTT5's would even fit in the double bracket. With the single bracket, I mount the 580EX on the FlexTT5 and mount the FlexTT5 on the cold shoe of the bracket. I'm able to center the flash head in the single bracket. With the double bracket, I don't think there's room to mount two 580's on two FlexTT5's and get both flash heads into the bracket opening...but I could be wrong. So that's one potential problem. I guess there's no reason to think that two speedlights right next to each other like that would cause problems for ettl.

Our new DBL brackets will mount two 580's and Flex's.... When these pass through triggers came out we modified the bend where the bracket attaches to the vertical by bending it up instead of down. This allowed more adjustment for the pass through's being used with speedlights.

We have also started making a Grip Bracket that mounts to a standard grip head. When mounting two flashes and a heavy modifier this is able to lock the adjustment point to better hold the added weight.
Grip Bracket has the optional softbox ring attached

sdipirro,
when mounting the two 580's and the Flex's consider using the off-camera shoe cord to connect the flash to the PW - you can then mount the PW to the stand with a clamp or bungy - this also separates and RF interference
