What kind of formatting is everyone using for uploading to online photo storage? I have been using Jpeg's but my photo's seem to be coming out more compressed and distorted than other people's work i see on the site...

Thanks for any help

What site are you using? And, are you uploading photos for high-res storage or for a Web gallery? It makes a difference in what you upload, and, different sites will "handle" photos differently.

I'm using flickr. and Just starting to use it as an online photo gallery so i can show some of my work (this is just a hobby for me now...). TIFF files seem way to big to be uploading regularly but it seems like jpeg has a lot of problems to watch out for as far as compression issues. just wondering what everyone else uses / what i should watch out for

Along with what René suggests, I would not upload full-size pictures, which would force Flickr to do drastic resizing for any normal views. Instead, I'd find what Flickr's default Large viewing size is and resize your images yourself to that size. Flickr will then resize to medium and smaller views but (hopefully) won't mess with your Large image.

There are a lot of Flickr users on here -- check out any of the sharing threads and you can spot them, so it wouldn't hurt to check with ones who are posting good quality shots and asking what process they use to prepare and upload.
