Nope, but carrying a decent camera can turn you into a magnet for tourists that want a photo of them in front of site X. The worst it ever happened to me I must have got through 10 or 12 cameras from this Japanese tour bus group, juggling them and hoping not to drop any. Not sure why they particularly thought I was there to provide that service but my wife thought it was hilarious. Same thing has happened at weddings if I've not been the lead photographer.
I had a funny experience like this in Tianenmen square... I was wandering about with my 20D, trying to blend into the background (Not easy to do when you're a 6ft 2ins white guy in China...)
I was approached by a family who were having problems with their P&S film camera, they wanted me to fix it! I eventually figured out that the film had snapped inside the camera, so I removed the broken film and loaded a new one for them. They were very grateful...
I then had to pose for 2 photos with each of them individually, one portrait, one landscape!! It was hilarious! I was trying not to laugh in all the photos, grinning like a cheshire cat. What a situation to get into when I was trying to be incognito... I wouldn't make a good spy....
