The 5D2 falls down on the autofocus, lack of dual card slots and lack of metering to the focus point.

Plus the cheap build, horrible shutter lag, custom functions, battery and other things....

But those aren't really major points. I don't miss the functions, don't notice the lag (especially considering the lag on 1DS3 before it displays an image) and I've had over 1000 shots out of a battery before.

But yeah, I can understand certain people wanting those things.

I have a chance to buy a 1Ds3 with less than 5k on the shutter for 2100. I have a 5D2. What would I gain/lose with this deal. I would only keep 1. I know I would get weather sealing and a better feeling body(i hate the battery grip of my 5d2) and loss of HD movie. What would POTN do?

If that is a legit price, buy the 1Ds3 and buy it NOW!!!!

You would be doing very good to get a 1D3 for that price with only 5k clicks.

I bet the seller either looked up the wrong camera when pricing it or they labeled it wrong.

Take some lenses, play with it, if it works....get it.

The looks too good to be true.
Just make sure it's legit deal.

To me those things are imperative, however, if I just shot in a studio, I would take a harder look at the 5D2.

At $2100, its either stolen, or its a scam. The easiest way to find out is to buy it local, and meet at a police station parking lot for the transaction.

Sounds like a scam to me as well, but 1DsIII >>>> 5DII imo.

That's about the value Of a 1DIII (not a Ds). It's either a mistake or a scam. Hopefully, for the OP, it's a mistake... in your favor. Just check it out carefully, as I'm sure you will. ;)

P.s. If you decide not to keep it, I'll trade you my 5D2 for it! :D

What if it has 200k clicks on it?

I'd be very careful about buying any 1D series body without knowing the seller and/or history of the body.

Other than that it kicks the 1DS3 in the nuts.

It depends if you want low light performance or not really. The 1DS3 is pretty crap in that department.
But when I go to a wedding job I always take the 1DS3, at least I can fix a bad exposure, I can't fix poor focus.

bluntly put, but I would agree with most of this; the 1ds3 is not really meant for low light usage.

and I wouldnt say in the nuts...in the shins maybe, but not the nuts.

Only an untrained eye can appreciate the sharpness of a lens...

Maybe for you, not over here. Outer not great in low light, so I recompose

That's why he shoots a Nikon D3s and a D700.;) And that's why I don't own a 5D II. You should get your hands on 1Ds and try the AF. It'll make you wonder why you spent so much on a 5D II. :)

Do you own one ? What do you shoot ?

I'm going to back up Lazuka here. He used to own a 5D II and shoots a Nikon D3s and D700. Nikon AF=better than 5D II AF. Simple as that. :)

If you can actually see the product up close and inspect it, I'd go for it.
