Theres a curious lack of information on the 1D mark4, 7D and 60D.

The White Paper page, part of the Canon usa site, has as a subtitle "Beyond the manual". Surely Canon have had time to assemble white papers for each by now?

They're too busy finishing up development on the 1D V, 9D, and 70D. No time to assemble the white papers. :D

Time yes - the question is whether people know about them and read them.

If few people took notice it might not be worth the effort.

Also - unless I am mixing something up rather seriously - if the 5D MK II and 50D are together - then that's just more detailed marketing in a way.

The Canon White Papers page (external link) includes the 1D4. Indeed, no 7D or 60D, but 1D4 it's there.

If Canon is anything like my tech company, White Papers are done by engineers with extra bandwidth (very rare), not part of scheduled projects, and will hopefully get you brownie points or a small bonus from the product manager.

I could swear I've seen the 7D white paper available on line. Maybe it was on a Canon-Europe web site?

I heard it is a DIY kit. You just supply an empty toilet paper roll and Canon provides the mount and glass.

Mount? I thought you were supposed to supply a TP roll and some gaffer tape.
