Lensbaby Scout 12mm fisheye

I just received an email from Adorama advertising this:

I've wanted to experiment with a fisheye for a while but just haven't seen anything at a price that interested me. This looks interesting, any thoughts?

Well I am a big Lensbaby fan. The new Scout with fisheye is excellent. Because this new lens does not bend like the other Lensbaby products the fisheye is always centered. You can swap other optics into it if you like as well. Definitely worth a look.

Wow, thanks for posting your shots, especially since they were done with the 5D2.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to shoot cemeteries. My avatar is a B&W shot of a monument to Winnie Davis (daughter of Jefferson Davis) at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.

At $250 its pretty pricey for a not-wide-enough, not-sharp-enough fisheye. For about $30 more, you can pick up a Opteka-branded Samyang fisheye, which is much better than the LensBaby scout in every way.

Gas, I picked up a Composer finally... I can't get the hang of it yet tho. But its a fun distraction of a lens. I brought it with me to Europe last month, but I think I shot like maybe 20 shots with it out of the 8,000 shots I took. I think in order to really enjoy it, I'm gonna have to take it as an only lens for a couple days just to get proficient in its use.

Don't the various flavors of Samyang fisheyes have metering issues? I seem to recall some sort of issue with them on Canon bodies some time back when I was interested in this before and decided against getting one.
