Sooo, I've been looking at the refurbs for about 5 days now & wonder if this is possible:

refurb 60D bundle with 18-135 & 55-250

or refurb T1i bundle with 18-55 & 55-250

if bundles ARE an option, would it make sense to just go 60D bundle by itself, OR do the T1i bundle & add a refurb 60D body & it only costs about $20 more in the end.

I know the 18-135 lens is pricier than the 18-55...

If bundles aren't an option.. I'm going to have to figure out a new plan!

I'd still return it - the chemicals in the fingerprint could eventually cause problems with corrosion or dry so hard that it can't be removed.

Ted

do you think i still can? had it for about 2-3 weeks? i'll call tomorrow. or maybe ill have it cleaned?

I am not sure what you mean by "bundle" but ...

The 60D and T1i cameras are available (sometimes) as the Kit with the 18-55mm lens. So if you call and the 60D Kit and 55-250 are both in stock or the T1i Kit and 55-250 are both in stock you could order one of the kits and the tele lens. In fact you MUST order the camera body or kit at the same time as you order the tele lens (or 430 flash, etc.) to get the CLP 20% discount on the 55-250.

It's your decision if you want the 60D kit without the tele lens (I'm thinking you mean the 60D + 18-55 Kit when you say bundle).

I don't know what you are saying about getting the T1i "bundle" and adding a refurb 60D for only $20 more. You would have to do two purchases. First the T1i "bundle" and then the refurb 60D. When you say "refurb 60D" do you mean one from the CLP or one from the refurbs in the online Canon Shop? Items from the CLP are 20% less than items from the Canon refurb list online. That's why you send in a broken Canon camera, to get the 20% off.

Have you read the first post on the first page of this thread? It does a wonderful job of explaning the CLP (Canon Loyalty Program).

Call Canon and see what they say....no excuses for a large fingerprint on the sensor!

By bundles, I mean these:
http://shop.usa.canon.com …gory_10051_10051_-1_72255 (external link)

If it means two purchases & two broken P&S trade in's to get the T1i bundle + a 60D body (all refurbs of course), that's fine with me!

Otherwise I might try to do this: https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1186624 + the 60D body so I've got 2 newer bodies... I'll have to research the cost difference though between a T3i body vs a T1i plus the extra lens I would get if I go with a T1i bundle, if bundles are in the CLP program.

So there are WAY too many pages to sort through but... I have an old A630 but the serial number has completely worn off (I've seriously put this camera through it's paces) and I got rid of the original papers long ago (after the warranty was no longer any good to me)... The original post says Canon require a serial number but I'm thinking my issue is likely a common one so I'm wondering if anyone has received a discount returning a camera like mine.

Actually, it IS true in this case. :D I'm looking at the invoice and they charged me $9 for the 2 day shipping. Overall, based on the savings, it's no biggie and it will be delivered tomorrow!!!

The program details seem to be a bit loose/flexible based on who you talk to and when.

BTW, I am originally from Pgh (1st graduating class in what is now Woodland Hills HS). Go Steelers!

Not true. I paid $0 for shipping and it was 2 day express. No clue what you are talking about. I received my 5D2 exactly 2 days after I called and paid nothing extra :)

Give them a call and ask them. They seem to be pretty nice. I'm guessing you are good since you need to return the A630 and they can track it.

Just tell them that it is worn off, shouldn't be a problem.

And if they rake you over the coals over it, call them back and hope you get someone else on the phone.

A lot of how the program gets handled really seems to be dependent on the agent that you happen to get when you call. Some have had people try to force them to get the old camera repaired first, some have had people demand serial numbers, and some, like me, got an agent that could have given a flying crap less, and just sold me the new stuff. She didn't even ask me the model of the old camera or anything like that. In fact, it was (I think) probably outside the official return window time by the time I shipped the old camera back, and I hadn't gotten charged for the difference. I probably wouldn't have, but I wanted to be safe so I sent it back anyhow.

If you get someone who gives you a hard time, call back later and talk to someone else.

:)

Just ordered a 60d through the CLP and I received 4 e-mails right away, but not the one w/ the return shipping label. Does that one take a little longer to show up? How long should I wait before I call them back if it doesn't arrive? Thanks!!

i saw a spec of dust on the sensor thru the viewfinder

You won't see sensor dust on the viewfinder, since the mirror is in between. Are you sure the fingerprint isn't also on the mirror?

I placed an order two days ago and I said the sticker has been peeled when the rep asked for the serial number.

Should we expect a price drop in the CLP price for the T3i now that the T4i is being rolled out?
