50D arrived. Definitely looks better and less used. Oddly enough, my last one didn't have a refurbished sticker on it, which I didn't realize until I got this one and it did.

Now to go check the shutter count...

edit... 1755. Not great, but WAY better than the other one and the condition is way better as well.

I'm beginning to think the other one wasn't fully refurbished and that they just replaced the LCD and the sensor and sent it on. Even my lens on this one says refurbished and the other one didn't.

By definition, refurbished means having a unit fully tested and determined to function within manufacturer specifications. In many cases, a lot of clunkers have made it through refurbishment, but in your case, nothing leads me to believe that they failed in the refurbishment process. You're simply dissatisfied with the cleanliness of certain parts, and the overall shutter count. Neither of those factors impact the overall functionality of the unit. For all you know, they had just replaced the shutter--as Canon does not reset the actuation count on the board when they do this.

Yeah, I know that's right. I just thought it was weird to have rubber peeling off and to not have a refurbished sticker on it.

Anyway, with this one was less than 1000 actuations, but really, I'm fine with it.

Rubber? You mean the grip was worn and/or peeling? If so, they definitely should have replaced that. Cosmetically, the outside of a refurbished model should be nearly indistinguishable from a new unit...

I can totally imagine them having an oversight like forgetting to sticker a refurbished sticker on it.

Grip was peeling near the auto focus assist light, and the rubber coating on the mode selection dial was peeling/partially gone.

just put my 7D order through, $1183.69 to the door..

This had to be one of the most simplest and fastest conversations I've ever had with any Customer Service Rep from any COMPANY in my life...

Now to wait til Wednesday which is the expected T.O.D.

Yup, me too. I started the conversation with "I have an EOS ix lite and I would like to turn it in for a T2i. He responded with "that camera qualifies, would you like to put this on your CC"

That was pretty much it.

The T2i came looking new and unmolested.

Fedex just dropped off my 7D. Looks brand new, the battery info showed a shutter count of 97 with an 85% charge. I wonder if truly new ones show 0

Just for kicks, I'm going to load the Linux program to check the actual shutter count. All of the accessories were included and are apparently new. Looking very closely at all of the screw heads, the hot shoe, etc. doesn't reveal any indication that it's ever been used or repaired. And, no "refurbished" sticker either.

Update: Fedex and UPS are in sync today. My CF card arrived immediately after the camera! Ubuntu is a 693mb download, so while that was chugging along I tested the camera. Dang it, a piece of fiber dust in the viewfinder and a dust speck on the sensor. After reading about the horrors of using a Rocket Blower inside the camera, I gently blew the fiber particle off the viewfinder. Gone. And after a couple of "Clean Now"'s on the camera menu, the sensor particle is also gone.

Looks like Ubuntu is downloaded, so I'll give that a try. 3:00pm Update: Finally got the Ubuntu installation figured out (super-easy to install side-by-side with Windows now, and software installation is also way easier than it was a few years ago - I think I like Linux!) and my camera has 397 shutter activations so far, including about 30 I shot today. The 370 shots it was delivered with, including 85 on the charged battery, sounds more like testing than use. So far, in my eyes, good as new!

So, outside to torture the dogs. "Oh, please, no more photos."

Replacing my Canon 7D, Tokina 12-24mm, Canon 17-55mm, Sigma 30mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, and 150-500mm with a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. I still have the 17-55 and the 30 available for sale.

With brand new units, it would read zero. While the bodies themselves may have some clicks on the counter, the battery itself would be brand new, requiring a full charge before use--with zero count in the battery info. The serial of the battery is recorded by the body, not the other way around, so your 7d most likely got 97 shots with that particular battery since the last charge (so those 97 shots being shown in battery info wouldn't have come from a different body?). I'm assuming that the chips in the batteries aren't sophisticated enough to store shot counts. Anyone have multiple bodies with shared batteries who can test this? I'm very curious.

Just an FYI. I saw the 60D was added to the site and I called Canon and the rep said it's not part of the CLP program yet.

The 60D has been on the site for a long time. The site is Canon's refurbished camera site, not a CLP specific site. So just because a camera is there, does not mean it's offered on the CLP.

Thanks for clarification. I kind of knew this but figured I'd give it a shot.

It depends on what you mean by "a long time". I'm not sure when the 60D hit the Canon refurb. list, but I know it wasn't there in late Dec. / early Jan. when I was shopping for my 7D.
