So today while hanging with a good friend of mine, I tossed out the idea of getting some shots of his new toy, a classic toyota mr2, and in turn testing out my new toy(1dmk2), and this is what came out of it. This was my first shoot with the 1d(had a 50 1.8 mounted on it), and my first time ever shooting a car, so please, comment and critique is greatly appreciated. had a lot of fun with this subject, and would love to shoot more cars in the future!

Cool shots, I like the highlights and color in number one.
Do you have any with the car all closed up?
Cool car!

I like #2 the best...not trying to be too hard on you, but since you asked for advice...things that are wrong with #1:

- wheel turned the wrong way...no one wants to see dirty tires on a sports car
- you've got a tree, a bench, etc growing out of the car...looks goofy, try a not so busy background next time
- the all open thing looks awkward...would be hard to make that kind of a shot work if it was a show car with a fully chromed engine, custom interior, etc...but you can't see ANYTHING the open orifices are revealing and even if you could, it looks like it would likely be all stock...close it up! :D

Number 1 is my favorite and I like everything open, however, It needs to be accompanied by a closed shot.

I dont mind the tree growing out of number 1 but Id remove the bench in PP, it would be easy to do and would clean it up a little bit. But hey im no expert so what do I know.

the second shot is the best.
Lowriders10 made some good comments.
always find clean backgrounds for shots like these. watch for poles, trees etc "growing" out of the car. Most people want to see the wheel rather than the tire tread, so depending on the perspective of the camera, your wheel will be truned in or out. I don't understand the open door?
Keep working on it!
