I'm not sure which..

I've always like Zenfolio/Smugmug more, but then Flickr may be better to get myself out there (networking)? Or is there something I'm missing?

Thanks if someone can provide some input :)

My take:

Zenfolio (my choice): Simple, professional, clean. But very limited in customization.
Smugmug: Takes a lot of customization to make it look good, but you can really do just about anything you can think of.
Flickr: Awful interface, best for networking. I can't stand Flickr, but if you want to post photos, tag them and have the chance of a boatload of views, it's the place to do that.

They all have free trials...Sign up for all three and see which you like the most (that's what I did before settling on Zenfolio).

I've gave a go for Zenfolio and Flickr already. I didn't like Flickr, but then the networking seemed promising. Zenfolio was very clean yet professional-looking.

I could always use both, but I'm a poor student.. and I don't know if I could bother uploading every photo to both sites instead if one.

Oh I only kept the Zenfolio account. I just wanted to try them all out to see which I liked more. If Flickr had an interface like Zenfolio it would be amazing. For $50/year for the Unlimited plan Zenfolio is such a deal. Have lunch at Costco (as in walk around getting samples) for 5 days and you'll have paid for your Zenfolio account. :-)

I have a paid Zenfolio account that has all the pictures I choose to store and/or show. If anyone ever asks if I have a website or if I specifically want someone to look at my pictures, I give them my domain name that points to Zenfolio.

I also have a free Flickr account that only shows the 200 most recent pictures that I have uploaded. My Flickr profile links to my Zenfolio site. I like Flickr because of the groups and I use it to connect with local photographers in my area.

The Presentation forum is the correct place to ask this question.

I'm a recent convert from flickr to smugmug and Im loving it :) flickr is nice because there are a lot of different options to upload/link, but the interface is not that nice.

I will not even waste my time browsing a Flickr gallery. Awful interface. I've tried both SM and Zenfolio and wound up sticking with SM.

I'm a recent SmugMug convert. I abandoned my Flickr pro account about a week ago and I'm never going back! The SmugMug site takes a bit longer to set up, but soooo much more rewarding in terms of actually showcasing your pictures. Flickr's uploading interface is downright awful, and the way the photos are presented makes you wonder why you'd even bother sharing them with the world.

Has anyone tried Flickriver - it presents the pictures just like Smug Mug -with both black or white backgrounds. It is a third party service tied to Flickr
