Why 1/60 sec, f/4, ISO 400?

I see ambient in these already, so I'd assume there was plenty to use the 85 at 1.8 and get a hand holdable shutterspeed at ISO 1600 or 3200...

Now, IMO, the flash kills any mood there was.

Also, quite a few are out of focus (mostly in front) and framing could be better.

Some nice expressions though, but plenty room for improvement...

Thanks for the comments Rene. I had to use flash the place was so dark. It was at a club, so nobody said I couldn't. I never use flash for concerts. What shutter speed do you suggest?

85/1.8 should be hand-holdable at 1/125s. Maybe 1/60s or 1/30s if you're very steady, but that's probably hit and miss.

using f/1.8 instead of f/4 gains you 2 1/3 stop. Using ISO 1600 gains you 2 more, so your ambient would have been more then 4 stops brighter at ISO 1600; f/1.8; 1/60s...
