I'm still pretty new to digital photography and post processing and would appreciate some comments and critques of this portrait. I'm especially interested in comments on the lighting, composition, background, and post processing. Camera was XSi with kit lens, f 5.6, 1/50, ISO 400. Thanks!

Subject is in focus, light appears fairly soft with no harsh shadows. I like the composition. You've obviously put a bit of thought into it and not just plonked the model in the middle of the frame. I would like to see a tighter crop though, taking space from the bottom of the frame and just a little from the right.

Regarding the PP, I wouldn't have bothered with blurring the foreground. People have different tastes though. If you're dead-set on doing it, make sure you do it carefully. There are a few areas that caught my eye (top left corner).

Good work overall, a flattering portrait in my opinion.

The lighting is VERY nice but her body is posed straight on to the camera making her shoulders look way too wide (and it makes her look heavy.) A simple 45 degree turn of the shoulders will do wonders to slenderize the body.

Looks pretty good to me but blurring is as bad or worse than vignetting.

Thanks for the comments. I agree it would have looked more flattering to have her shoulders turned more. As for the foreground blurring, I was trying to draw attention to her and thought blurring would help, but maybe its just distracting. I'll try again with the original. Thanks.
