Just got a Canon SX20 IS. And new to the forum. I am looking for information about the hot shoe connector functions, voltage levels, etc. Getting back into photography after some 25 years and there is a lot more functionality now and I do like to tinker and do mods when needed. Any help is appreciated.
Jim

Not public information, it has to be reverse engineered. Flash manufacturers that make third party products compatible with Canon dSLR had to do their own reverse engineering. You are not simply dealing with voltage, as there is data sent from body to camera (most likely serial data) about lens FL and aperture, as well as commands to emit preflash or focus pulse, and partial output commands for ETTL control of flash.
