How's my website and the images on it?

So, I recently got myself a website to showcase and (hopefully) sell some of my photography.

Does it look good? Are the images a high enough quality to meet the standards of todays professional images and prints? Are the prices decent?

Thanks in advance!

Site looks good but how are you planning on getting people to buy your photos?

Thank you! And honestly, I don't really know. The market i'm trying to target is people decorating their houses/offices and/or magazines.

"I try to keep my prints as reasonably priced as possible. Please feel free to contact me if you feel that a particular print is priced to high, and I'm sure we can work something out!"

Ditch this copy off of your site immediately before someone else sees it. You're telling people that you don't believe in your own prices and you're opening the door for the lowballers to beat you down on price alone. Instead, use that space to justify your asking prices.

Speaking of which, your prices are very cheap. Why would you want to negotiate down from there? It's going to take a lot of sales to make decent money. Your work is very good. Price it accordingly.

And, just as a FYI, selling to a magazine is very, very different than selling to someone who wants to use your picture for decoration. Read several pages of this forum to see what I mean.

Thank you so much! Im sorry if I seem to be clueless about all this, Its because I am! But, thats why I'm asking here, haha.

I got rid of the pricing page, I'll rework it tomorrow sometime, I may also raise some of my prices, especially on the smaller prints.

As for magazines, ill be sure and look over some stuff, but im pretty sure i wolnt be getting any offers any time soon :)

Remember too - it's not just the markup on the print you have to account for. You also have to account for what you went through to get the image, how difficult is it to duplicate, what kind of post processing did you have to do on it and how long did that take you, your investment in equipment, time, and training, how unique is it, just to name a few things. I'll be the first to admit that pricing is more art than science, but you don't want to get labeled as 'cheap' right from the get-go. Take pride in what you create.

Oh, and getting the word out about your prints (marketing) is the bulk of the battle here. It's rare that someone stumbles into your work falls in love with it, and just has to buy it on the spot.

I like the website too. The photographs are outstanding.

In the "about" section, you need to go back in and fix some gramatical errors:

Austin King is a semi-pro extreme weather, nature, and landscape photographer. I currently resides in the great state of Texas. In the summer of 2010 me and my family took an RV vacation through the western half of the U.S. and nearly all the national parks on that side of the country. This trip provided me the bulk of my photography subjects, and also furthered my experience and talent.

I've long had a love for photography, and also for extreme weather events. I chase storms as often as I can, and I hope to graduate college with a degree in meteorology.

Some of my other talents include my musical training; over ten years of classical guitar experience, and nearly five years of electric guitar experience. I also do computer modeling and animation in my free time.

Thank you. bw!

You may want to take out "semi-pro" because many people will think you're selling yourself short. That's just my opinion. Don't worry too much about that.

Change resides to reside.

Change "me and my family" to "my family and I."

Your photographs are top-notch. That's the hardest part.

Thank you. bw!

Do you have any ideas on the best way of going about doing that? :)

You do fabulous scenic work. You need to do something original to get your work seen by folks interested in nice prints for their offices, e.g. attend a (bank, dental, attorney, etc.) association trade show with some samples of large prints. Arrange to display where there is a lot of foot traffic, like the airport.

Nice site.

I was looking at a few like the rock formations this afternoon. And if I correctly read $20 for an 11 x 14 print, my thought was that it could be worth double or triple.

So you definitely are not over-priced.

:D
