I've used the Elinchrom Rectalite 26154 28" x 68" (72 x 175cm) many times recently and I'm completely in love with it. I'm going to be getting one within about 2 weeks from another photographer I work with that happens to have two of them and will give me a ridiculous price on one.

I'm curious to hear from those of you that may have used one or own one and have experience and images to share.

General chatter about the Rectalite is acceptable as well. ;)

Awesome! (Sorry, don't have one, but it's good to see you excited about gear :-)

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Dave, you really have to stop this behaviour, you know I'm not about to buy one :-)

Hi Mic,

Oh, believe me, I get excited about gear, but I don't get excited about useless gear or gear that doesn't contribute to my kit and my images in a positive way. You won't find bags and cases full of crap I don't use. I'm not a hoarder or collector.

But when it comes to a light modifier that produces even, gorgeous wrapping light then I'm a sucker!

I have owned it for a few years, got very little use though. Its a very nice modifier, i found it as an odd size for me though.

For what its worth here is one image where it's used.

Rectalite left, and Indirect Octa as key.

Thanks Paul. I can see how it would be an odd size for many people. Since I'm such a lover of strip boxes and narrower softboxes I really found it to be great. Then again I'm going to be using it for 3/4 and full length single subject work.

My plan is to use it as my main light and the 69" Octa as the fill source. That's how I've used it and thought it was killer.

nor am I. ! hehe.. it's funny, i think a lot of us use the same gear in different ways too.

For instance, i've used 4 x RX600's to light a HUGE tent for wedding. Worked like a charm. I've used the Ringflash and Sunhaze for Indian bharat ceremonies... i think i use their gear in a lot of edge cases that the typical user doesn't encounter.

I can't wait to do some stuff this winter though. More traditional in-studio stuff.

I bought a square 70x70 from Adorama along with the BO, and I've got a 60x90 (non-Eli) along with the square indirect, the strip indirect and the square reflector, so I agree entirely! :-)
