Hi!

So a friend of mine asked me if it would be ok for him to buy a 5Dii for snowboard video shooting only (friends of him suggested that).

Told him it would be WAY too costy but if he realy wanted the nowdays Dslr habilitys (iso, dof, lenses etc...) but only video, a 550D was enough. + they barely know nothing about photography.

Obv I told him a camcorder was the way to go but I don't know anything about that. The last time I used one it was a good old canon XM1.

Do you guys have suggestions ? it doesnt to be a canon...Just a good HD video camera for sport shooting with maybe the hability to put a fish eye in front of it.

Price range ~$3K.

i would get a video camera over a dslr. mainly because you can get much better auto focus off a video camera and better use out of it. here are a few suggestions. these are ones i have worked with at some point in time (a few only briefly)

This one is sony's new interchangeable lens handicam, would have to buy extra lenses for it. has some decent reviews. i personally have not messed around with one yet but its pretty cool

thats pretty much one from each brand in your price range. i have used all but the handicam. not a big fan of sony video equipment. overall, no extreme bias towards canon because this is an enthusiast forum but the canon xh-a1 is an amazing camera and is great for just about everything

The xh-a1s looks great but it's more than I can afford...$3.8K here.

The sony one looks interesting. Gonna look into it.
