Is there any special technique regarding the cleaning of the focus screen on a 5DMKII and if there is dust stuck between the focus screen and the screen above is that too safe to lightly brush off?

I think when replaced my focus screen I got a bit of dust sandwiched in.

Thanks

Definitely don't touch the mirror with anything, it's VERY easy to scratch. You likely have dust somewhere in the viewfinder. You can try to use a rocket blower to puff air up there, but chances are it will just happen again. After a while, you won't notice it.

Got it thanks. I use the blower, but like you said it will still happen. The bottom line is the sensor is fine, I'm just slightly bothered by the visible dust.
Thanks

Don't try and use the blower on the screens while they are in the mirror box, remove them first, otherwise dust will be pushed deeper inside the pentaprism by the force of the air.

This is the proper process, you may not need the wet clean, so try the blower first, an extremely soft brush like an artic butterfly can also be used using a very soft swipe, the static on the brush picks up the dirt, rather than the brush brushing it off.

These screens are extremely fragile and will stain and scratch very easily.

If you need to remove the SI screen watch out for the small screws and the metal shims, dropping the screws into the camera body or bending the shims could be problematic.

Thanks Lannes. I think my problem was that I did use a blower and may possibly have caused the dust into the pentaprism. Thanks for all the advice and tips.
