No problem Roy. It is nice to see that there are some people left that care about being correct.
I often submit my post and then realize I goofed a word or two and then quickly hit the edit button.
Generally I am anal about things like that. Although I have been known to just let a few slide and of course I sometimes use slang terms LOL! I warned you first haha. You can blame my daughter for that because when I started hanging around in computer land she would get so impatient when we would be chatting online and she would say she was going to fall asleep waiting for me to respond to her. She is the reason I gave way to the short form slang's like w/e and the like. I think you would cringe if you chatted on Yahoo with her because she types almost everything from words like ppl (people) to ttyl (talk to ya Later) which I am sure would just send you into a tither or two LOL!!
It doesn't bother me because I know she knows the correct spelling of the words and that she just has so much on the go at once that using those terms is faster for her.

Agreed.

It's frustrating when you proofread something, and then the instant after you post it you see a glaring error.

I deal with a large volume of email, and in an attempt to save time I acquired some sloppy habits when writing email. Not a good thing to do in the academic world wherein I work. Fortunately, the faculty in the English Department have been kind in helping me see the error of my ways. :)

You're not alone in that.

I the world of writing, it is axiomatic in the creation of a book that:
1. you create a draft of a manuscript;
2. you edit the manuscript to correct errors;
3. you submit the manuscript and have it accepted;
4. an editor goes over the manuscript and finds errors;
5. the editor sends the corrected manuscript back to you;
6. you re-edit the manuscript to those errors, and a plethora more you discover yourself;
7. you send the corrected manuscript back to the editor;
8. you and the editor repeat steps 4–7 until all possible errors are found and corrected;
9. the manuscript is sent to the printer;
10. the printer sets up the manuscript for printing and prints proofs;
11. the printer sends you the proofs;
12. you go over the proofs and find errors;
13. you send the corrected proofs back to the printer;
14. the printer makes the corrections and prints new proofs;
15. you and the printer repeat steps 11-14 unit all errors have been found;
16. the printer prints a book, and sends you a few copies; and
17. you open your new book to a page at random, and find an obvious error.

Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.

Actually, growing old is the ONLY option.

After all, what's the alternative?;)

And well they should! Professional is as professional does.

I, personally, know of a lawyer who was not hired as an associate by a prestigious law firm solely because he failed to use good grammar and proper punctuation on his Facebook page. He did not meet their professional standards, i.e., they did not wish to be represented by someone so casual in his personal habits.

I also know of many people who were not hired for more mundane jobs because they "lol"-ed their way out of the running. They and their "bff" will never know why they weren't hired.

Not growing old, i.e., death.

However, if you choose that option, you can't change your mind later if it doesn't work out.

So, welcome to the club!

And I just noticed that, in the preamble to my list, the very first word should be "In," not "I."

Sigh, it never ends.

Done!

But he's just a very frustrated individual. You know, kind of like a maiden Aunt that's always correcting you for something!

I'm not afraid of the "grammar police". I'm not even afraid of the "mattress police" and have torn off every DO NOT REMOVE label.

I'm such a scofflaw that I jaywalked once. I'm sure the statute of limitations has run out, so I can tell it now to the world!

I'm not either ...............

Man, a day goes by between me checking this thread and it's like a whole day has gone by:)!

Anyway, Ferris Bueller was on A&E today -- I hadn't seen it in a few years so I ended up watching it. One of the really fun movies of the era!
