Always wear sturdy boots when I'm out wacking. I'm the poster boy for self inflected hurts.

I just spent the whole summer using a trimmer/weed eater/weed whacker/string trimmer/whipper snipper thing. Usually just called it the trimmer. Wore long pants all summer, but usually running shoes, and always safety glasses. Did occasionally get hit in the foot with something, but never too bad. The safety glasses was the big thing. They became so scratched from being hit by stones, grass, weeds, bits of string, pine cones, whatever I managed to hit with the thing. My boss was pretty good at hitting something and launching it my way. Hit me dead in the middle of my forehead with a stone one day. Had a couple of bloody lips too, mostly from pine cones.

Having been to New Orleans for 2 Final Fours and 1 Superbowl (work) I have a hard time developing sympathy that you must stay for Mardi Gras:D New Orleans is great! Did my 40th birthday in New Orleans during the superbowl setup, great way to celebrate! And as you're already partying....

Another place I'd like to get back to sometime.

But I guess a vacation is to get away from home.

Thanks for the tips!

That's so true. I live in a vacation destination area, but it isn't a "real" vacation until I get out of the area.

I wonder if people who live in Hawaii think the same. Maybe they do.

Ahhhhh so there are two good doctors out there to fix up silly people like us!
I hear you on the pain afterwords, I think it hurts more getting a paper cut then when I cut my finger back then. Must be the adrenaline that runs so high during the intense moment, I can still see all the blood yucky and funny because blood never bothers me until it is mine I guess.
Did you watch the doctor do the reattaching....quite the amazing thing!

Yup, he was a very good doctor. He had a lot of practice - he worked with the SF 49's. It was rather fascinating watching him work. I have always like to watch doctors working on me, and I have had many opportunities. Quite a few broken bones and cut requiring stitches.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

Hmmmmm.... Not the best way to apply make-up, apparently.

Boredom is home; adventure is elsewhere. Where home is is irrelevant.

Hell, I might even think of Hertfordshire, U.K., as a vacation spot.

You need a job where you can use your mind versus your hands! A bit safer, Eh?

AND, a boss that doesn't throw stones at you!

Man, those pine cones are TOUGH in Canada. I have plenty in my back yard, but none have ever given me a bloody lip. They KNOW I'm tougher than they are. Even when they gang up, they aren't much of a threat!

I will always work at a job that requires me to use my hands. Hands and mind. That is if I manage to keep my hands in decent working order. 5 years ago I came close to seriously damaging/possibly loosing my left ring finger. But I got 'lucky' and only have several scars. Any pine cone is tough when it's just been launched by a string trimmer, bounces off the tree and nails you in the face. They're even nastier when the lawn is covered in the little round ones that act like marbles under your feet and you're trimming along a cliff face.

Yes I agree weed whacking since I'm banned by hubby to use that toy again ever since a few years back when I severely weed whacked my ankle.
You want pain try it LOL.....like having someone slice the crap out of you with a razor sharp knife.

My wife has interesting ideas about yard work. Very old school back to my mon's time Lawnmowers are made only for men. I have 2 a manual push and easy start power I run them. I decided if I do that she can at least be in charge of the electric weedwacker with 100" cord. She learned about the long pants the hard way. The snowblower is also a mam's tool That crapped out this Winter. We are both out on the drive with shovels. With about a month to go we'll make it on shovels.

Yeah I'm not banned from the snow blower yet LOL...but the first time I used it when hubby was out of town I was having fun doing it until a neighbor came running across the street and asked if it would be ok if he adjusted the choke...apparently I had it running a little fast. Hey it was clearing the driveway and always seems noisy to me hahaha!
My hubby works out of town two nights a week. Transport driver that's my man so I only do the snow blowing if I have to.
