I'll be getting a 300 lb one, just in case I gain weight back. I like a nice reserve on such things.

My wife got one for a temporary nerve problem after our baby. She used it for 3 months. We gave it to her mom and the dang adjustment springs malfunctioned and it collapsed - fortunately no injury resulted. It wasn't just a fluke; in closer testing it persistently failed.

I think you did well to get the one rated for the load - probably better springs and quality controls.

Purchase a couple helium balloons and get the 250# rated one. The 250# rated one should have a 1-1/2x capacity rating anyhow.

That's so true! As a designer of various mechanical things that are part of the boats I design, I am often amazed at the margins required. (Totally understandable with cranes and their mountings, but less so on ramps and stairways.)

I'll be 54 tomorrow and 11 days post-op from spinal fusion. And for the first time in a long time, I feel good!

Just got back from a friends funeral today. Still remember the days when we used to go to a lot of weddings. Not so many wedding anymore, a lot more funerals though.

Glad you're feeling better, Jay. How many vertebrae did they fuse? They want to fuse 9 of mine. Not sure I'm gonna have it done.

I only needed 2 fused, L4 and L5. Im feeling pretty good, moving around, walking and such. I'm still very tender, but with my very basic walker and a cane for other times, I am pretty happy with my progress. They say I still have close to three months before I'll be solid but at the end it will be so nice to lose the cane completely and walk farther than the bathroom.
