Hi all, I need some suggestions. Currently I keep my 1D in the Lowepro Toploader 75 AW. Great bag that can handle most zooms but it is rather large and overkill for smaller zooms such as the 17-40 and 24-105. I'm going on a trip in January where I need to travel very light. I'm looking for a bag that's just large enough to handle the 1D and 17-40. There are so many bags at B&H I get headaches after a while looking at them. ;) Any suggestions?

Check out the ThinkTank Digital Holster 40. It will accommodate a pro body and looks to be smaller than the Lowepro. It will extend down if you want to use a zoom but there is not as much padding in the "pop down" part when it's extended. I have had several ThinkTank bags and have been very happy with them.

Thanks. I think that's the one I was thinking of I saw mentioned some time ago but there are so many different bags/holsters out there that it's confusing unless you know exactly what you're looking for.

I think I spent more time agonizing over what bag to get than any other piece of gear I own! I kind of lucked into the ThinkTank products, I got so tired of looking online that I decided I was going to go to my local camera store and just get something and be done with it. The sales guy recommended ThinTank so I went that route and have been very happy with all four that I have owned.

I know what you mean. I went to our local store that carries ThinkTank products but the store that is convenient to me doesn't carry any of the bags for the larger bodies. Their main store is in a very inconvenient part of town for me that I hate driving to.

Got the ThinkTank from Adorama today. It's great and will work into my plans. Thanks for reminding me of which one it was.

When I got mine the fit was a little tight width-wise so I took the rain cover out of that interior side pocket and put it under a divider in the bottom. That was with a 70-200 with the hood so you may not have that issue but just thought I'd throw that out there.

Yeah, already figured that out and just pulled the rain cover. Since I don't do shoots for hire not an issue for me, I prefer not to take my gear out in the rain. A bigger issue for me was that I had to remove the Kirk QR plate, I'll play with that more later.

That bag is definitely a form-fitting deal. I don't leave my plate on my 7D but even my Black Rapid R-3 Fastener snags sometimes when putting the body in or taking it out. The only thing I really want to change on the bag though is the ability to make the shoulder strap shorter. I'm only 5'10" and it's a little long. The strap length on my UD 70 Pro would be perfect but I'm not paying another $30 or so for a shoulder strap!
