I have a XSi and have a remote control also a wireless remote control.

I'm thinking about buying a new 5D and would like to not have to buy all new remotes.

Anyone know if all Canon models use the same connection for the remote.

Nope. If you buy the 5D, you'll need to get a new remote. Sorry.

Give Lon over at Flashzebra (external link) a look if you need to get a new remote. Lon is a member here.

Won't work, you'll have to buy new remotes. The Rebels have an E3 port, while the xxD/xD use the N3 port. They're completely different connectors. The POTN Support Shop (external link) sells very reasonably priced replacement remotes, both wired and wireless.

Thanks for the info looks like nothing will work.

I have a lot of memory cards and spare battery's plus the remotes and none of it will work on the 5-D.
Factor in some new lens for the full frame and this is going to be expensive.

If you sell off some of your gear, you'll be able to off-set some of the expense of upgrading.
