I don't know why some people describe their camera bodies as "gripped"... Furthermore, why wouldn't lenses be described as "hooded", or flashes described as "diffused"...

I guess I'm trying to determine if I'm the only one...

Usually its in the context of selling it, or perhaps in a context where the differences between a camera with an external grip make a difference.

There are occasions where the description can be of use - a lot of the time it isn't.

As far as I am concerned, all lenses should be hooded (unless they are in my bag). As soon as they come out, the hood goes on.

Flashes should be described as diffused or otherwise as this will have a direct bearing on the image taken.

My opinions anyway.

Maybe it's just like any popular terminology that gets played out until its irritating, like so much radio music.

This has been discussed, briefly => https://photography-on-the.net …p?p=5586870&postcount=142

Meh, its not that bad is it? I don't know if there is anything wrong with using one word to add the capacity of an additional battery and a vertical shutter release button.

I don't think its as bad as saying minty. I mean really, mint is shorter and make sense and doesnt imply a flavor.

With Noink equipment, it can make a difference - remember they can only hit top speed with a grip attached! ;)

No, you can't. The feeling that you can is just another Noinker delusion: one, alas, of many.

I use it because it's intimidating to non gripped cameras. essentially everything comes down to a pi$$ing contest and you know what? I win haha. In all seriousness I think grips are a great thing and I wouldn't have known about them if it weren't for people putting it in their sigs and my curiosity.

Your camera feels macho?!! How can your camera feel anything?

And if it's you that feels macho when you hold your gripped camera, well, delusions can be good for the ego....
