Friendly Common Darter

Hi,

This darter was more than happy to pose for a close up before flying off to my purpose built dragonfly set, a tall stick in the pond and posed some more.

The close-up was with my Sigma 70-300 DG macro @ 70mm with 68mm of tubes. The stick shot was at 300mm and although the head is partially masked by the wing I took the shot because of the great pose that showed off the colours on the underside of the tail.

Both ISO 400, f11.

BTW, did anyone else notice in the first shot those tiny hairs on the framework of the wings? If I get a chance tomorrow I think I'll try for some more close-ups other than the head...
