Canon 430EX vs Nissin Di866 Sync Speed

I'm loving my new Nissin Di866 flash.. I bought primarily to shoot off camera.. I also have a couple of Canon 430EX, one is the II version and a Nikon SB-28..

With the 430 EX Speedlites, triggered by the RF-602 (I have three), I can sync at 250th second.. With the Nissin I can only sync upto 200th without any shutter shadow, but on camera the Nissin can sync at 250th..

I have disregarded flash duration being the culprit as this occurs at all manual power settings..

This isn't a biggy for me as shooting in a studio situation at 200th second or under doesn't worry me, and if I shoot outdoors I can always switch to the 430EXs..

But the $64.000 question,, why???

I'm sure people will attribute it to the greater variance in build quality of 3rd party manufacturers.

Interesting. Are you plugging your trigger into the plug on the flash or connect it to the shoe of the Di866? I have read that this could make a difference in the synch speed. My Di866 is on the way and when I get it I will do this test.

but I have one question though, I am debating whether I should get the Di-866 or wait for the SB-700...

are you happy with the Di-866 using it on Cam? its TTL and features?

Very happy with the Di866 either off camera or on camera.. Heaps of grunt and really well built, although I would have liked to see a metal hotshoe plate.. The menu is dead easy to navigate..

I also bought an eight battery power pack off Amazon for $49,, the Canon CP-E4 type (580EX) has the same plug.. Recycle times with the pack are out of this world..

Do all three triggers do that?

Weird.
I'd expect the delay to be trigger dependant. I'd not think the flash would add an additional delay.

Looks like the Di-866 rotates only 90 degrees CCW? That's a drawback IMO.

Rene,, it rotates 90deg anti clockwise,, 180deg clockwise..
