Just got back from 9 days in Maui and spent some time at Ho'okipa. It was truly amazing watching folks paddling out on longboards and kids leashing up. Not use to seeing this type of surf as I live in San Diego.

I wish I had a 100-400L but stuck the Drainpipe (all nicks/scratches/bruises) still serves me well.

We definitely don't get waves like that in SD too often, but some spots can still get that big or bigger. Blacks comes to mind. Those are some nice shots showing the intensity of the waves. Too bad about the focal length. I would have loved to see the faces on those guys.

We were in Maui last month and went out to Ho'okipa to watch the windsurfers and kiteboarders a couple of times. The kiteboarders were getting some serious air.

I sat in the parking lot which was easily 300-500 yards from the lineup. There were also a ton of sup's in the lineup and through out the island.
