I'm looking into getting a model release form. Something just stating that I can use their photos for my portfolio use or whatnot. I'm new to the whole model release contracts. I've been mainly doing free shoots for family and friends and am now getting paid shoots. I have one tonight actually that I could use a release for. So any point to the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

I wasn't sure if I could find a good one online. I googled and I see some but I'm just not sure as to what one is a good one. I want to give them right to be able to print them themselves because I am giving them a DVD with the photos, instead of me having to print them...

Most of the model releases you find when you google are fine for general purposes. What you would need to do is write a letter to accompany the dvd granting them printing rights so that if they go to a retail lab they wont get hassled by the clerk. You should do this for anyone you give printing rights to because clerks in certain drug and discount store chains are amazing vigilant in regards to copyright protection. If they think an image is of pro quality, they may hold the image until proof of ownership is provided.

I have never ordered or seen this set from Amazon (external link) but they seem to popular. This at least gives you a starting point. I downloaded several from the internet and reworded them to my liking and then had my lawyer do the final review. If you are doing alot of work that involves the use of releases I find getting my lawyer to sign off on them gives me piece of mind.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

THIS (external link)might be another source, it has a kindle version too. It is highly recommended here on the POTN boards, although I am not sure if it has sample legal forms?
