Help
My laptop crashed and I had to have the hard drive wiped clean and the OS reinstalled. I tried to use my CS4 program today and found that I am no longer able to open any of my RAW images. I get an error message that reads: "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."
I found that I can open any of my jpegs and any images that were opened as smart objects previously.
I had used CS4 for approximately the past six months without any issues.
The service center that did the computer work also installed CS4 for me at the same time.
Any suggestions or ideas would be sincerely appreciated.
Ed

Sounds like you need to update ACR.

Click Help > Update and let it go through the motions.

Thanks for the advice. It appears to have taken care of the issue. For the better part of my life I've been pretty much control of things. I'm embarrassed to say that with computers I have an innate ability to overlook the obvious!:o:oops:
Thanks once again

Heh! Well, you just learned a "need to know" thing with shooting Raw, so now you are an "expert" and can pass it on to the next person who asks:):)! In fact, check this part of the forum often, because it will likely come up tomorrow, the next day, the next day...!
