The borders should be on the frame, not on the monitor. They're ehavily compressed, or heavily processed (though the blockiness of the first image leads me to believe it's compression..).

The first image is far more interesting than the sap. But due to the compression, it's leaving me wanting more in terms of fidelity; the strands of the plant look as though they want to be incredibly sharp. The composition leads to the dramatic sky, but that's cut off because of the border. There are a few hot places in the foreground which subtract a bit from the aesthetics, but I can't say for certain whether or not this would be the case without the borders. Nice, dramatic sky with an interesting angle.

I agree with the above comment about the borders but otherwise, I really like them. Very nice images.

I'd like to see a little more color in the cacti but love them both! Great work.
