1, 4, 6, 7 are my faves... great job!!

There are people out there with more experience doing these kinds of shoots that don't get shots like these.

really great shots. I like the senior pics you have on your Flikr as well...surprised you didn't post more of them here :-)

I like the one of your daughter where her shoulder is turned towards the camera.

I like your sig.

you point out your "old reliable" Rebel XS, and your "Cheap-O" lenses, yet your pics are better than some I've seen where people have higher-end gear. more $$$$ gear does not make better photos.

there's a member on this forum, George M W, and I love his quote he has on his sig:

"It's also obvious that people determined to solve user error with more expensive equipment will graduate to expensive user error."

These are really nice. #5 the arm is cut off a bit, but I would be pleased with all of these! You have given me a little inspiration using my basic equipment!

Thanks so much, everyone. I do want to clarify that for most of this set, I did use an 85 1.8 lens, but for almost every other photo on my Flickr, I used my 50 1.8. I cannot see a difference in photo quality, so I would tell you, firefighter, that if you add a 50 1.8 to your basic equipment (usually $80-$100), you should be able to take very nice pictures. :)

I agree that equipment is a relatively small factor compared to head knowledge -- I've learned so much from this board and I am very grateful. Thanks again for all the encouragement. :)

Haven't been around CC forum for a while - too busy taking photos :p - So missed the first part of the thread.
I had a look at the first and second series and really have to compliment you on the quality. They are all very good and the 'desat" look of some give them just the bit of special look. Focus where it should be, nicely distributed lighting with shadows and highlights in the right places. Great job!

Already own it;) The 85 is on my list to buy, but with winter coming most of my shoots will be inside my house and I am limited on room so I'll be (and have been) using the 50.

Oh, my -- I'm really sick with some virus, but waking up to your post really cheered me up. Thank you so much! :D

Oops! Sorry, firefighter, I overlooked that. The 50 1.8 is a dream. I've only had the 85 for a few weeks, as I dropped my 50 and lost the AF. I will replace it sometime, but using MF is fine most of the time (except with fast moving kiddos.) The 50 is definitely much better for indoor shots, so my 85 won't get much use this winter.
