Used prices are about 14% off right now, seems a little high, but not completely out of line for a newer offering.

That looks like the usual selling price for a T2i. It's the best in the Rebel series

Yes. Time.

The T2i was announced in February and first went on sale in most markets in March. The camera hasn't been available long enough for used units to accumulate and drive down the price.

The best way to get a true bargain price for a Canon camera is to wait for the manufacturer to begin selling refurbished units. That probably won't happen with the T2i for another year or two.

If I was in the market for a T2i, I wouldn't buy a used one unless I saved at least 20-25%. Otherwise, it makes more sense to get a new one with its included warranty and the store return policy.

Unfortunately the XSi isn't selling for very much used...I want to upgrade to the 7d but won't get more than $400 apparently, so I've got some saving to do. (Although I shouldn't complain because I only paid $650 for the XSi + kit lens 2 years ago)

It's expensive because it's the best Rebel ever.

It rivals the 60D and 7D in many ways.

Obviously the above mentioned cameras have more features, but they use the same sensor and processor (although the 7d has two processors), so image quality can be just as good on the T2i as the 7D (given the right circumstances).

I think it's pretty darn inexpensive. $849 for the camera with kit is a good deal, especially if you keep it for several years.

Go to vimeo and check out some of the films made with the T2i. They're rivaling cinema in many ways.

Thank you. bw!

Canon has the refurbished T2i for $719... When I talked to the Canon Loyalty dept. a few weeks back, though, the T2i was not available through that program. The representative said that the supplies were not high enough.

But... they do have refurbs now for the $719 price. Still seems high to me, but that's economics...

It's not cheap because it's new, and the Flagship of the Rebel series. Find me a Canon that's less than 9 months old and at a considerable discount? As soon as they're ready to release a new Rebel, you'll see the price of the T2i drop.

I think many are missing the point: if the price of a brand new T2i is dropping, the price of a used T2i should drop accordingly.
