What noise? As calm and serine as heaven above us.
You should be very proud of this image.

I tried pushing the 7D to 6400 ISO just to see how much I could grab with my tamron 150-600. Noisy, but it did ok. The skytracker continues to impress me!

This one's a beauty.

Camping at O'Neill Park in Orange County this Friday, took this shot of the Big Dipper straight up on its handle. Still a tiny bit of dusk left, but with a couple million folks living nearby its tough to get a dark sky in any case...

That's my neck of the woods. Good shot. Still too much light pollution where we live, unfortunately. Joshua Tree gave me some decent results though (for locations in SoCal, not too far away, I mean).

Thanks Puckman. Believe me, the sky at O'Neill is so much darker than at my house in Orange. I have not been out to Joshua Tree since I was in high school, need to make a trip soon, but it would be nice if there was dark sky closer....
Best,
Steve

Yah. I see the Northern light too!:)

But then one tank of gas takes you to Big Bear Lake, and back to home, that with about 7000 feet elevation, not only you get rid of LA or OC's light, but also have less atmospheric pollution to deal with. Further continuing on Highway 18 N, takes you to Apple valley, Lucerne Valley, Yucca Valley and all the beautiful Joshua trees and even darker desert places. And just prior to your descend from top of mountain at about 7500 feet elevation on East end of Big Bear city, you actually will see what local resident call Northern light, that BTW in reality is Las Vegas light some 220 miles away, but visible from top of mountain...
Making a long story short, with raising temperature, you should have no excuse, not to try Big Bear Area for a weekend star gazing adventure.

All your detail is fantastic but your colors are slightly off again . That bright star besides the Witches head should be a bluish tint and that is why the Witches head is a bluish/gray color . The Nebulae is a Reflection Nebulae and therefore gets its' color from Rigel the beautiful blue star in Orion . Your Rigel is leaning towards magenta tint . Like I said tho all your detail is fantastic !

I've gone over to the dark side :)

IMAGE: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/243531918/Astro/Wo-Frist-Light-2.jpg

But I'll still pull out the trusty EF400 from time to time. Can't get the whole Heart Nebula in the FOV of the 102GT for instance. The mount is goto with servos now as well. I've gone all in. Beware it all starts out with what you have on hand but escalates quickly :) I'm a happy addict though. Haven't had this much fun or learned as much in many years.
