Great star trails over H20 Shaman!

My 3 loghome star trails in 2010.....orig thread herehttps://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=898844
(I'll have to shoot some startrails in the wintertime)

The ISS is the 6 sequential streaks, the green streaks are lighting bugs, I captured a faint shooting star to the right of the roof going horizontal.
(individual frame look confirmed it)
-108 images @ 20 seconds each, ISO 800, T1i +kit 18-55 IS lens @ 18mm f4

Taken 7/11 1:26am thru 2:27am, just over 1 hour images
-178 images, ISO400, 20 sec each, f 3.5, T1i +kit 18-55 IS lens @ 18mm

Taken 7/16 late with my new Canon 15-85 @ 15mm, stacked multiple photos shot at ISO 400 and 20 second exposure each.....with and without the airplane.....

This one taken "up north" Hillman, Michigan Aug 8 where it was DARK, but the clouds came in during the shot muddied up the trails....did not see them so much in the nightime..

These are really cool to see mtbdudex ! Also showing the difference between different lens ! Lightening bugs are a trip ;) !

This is such a cool thread! I'll play.

Here's a couple of shots a day apart of the Moon, Mercury and Jupiter in the last week of 2008. You can just make out three of Jupiter's moons in the first one.

Canon 50D, ISO 400

First one: EF 55-250 IS, 110 mm, f/5.0, 4 sec
Second one: EF 24 - 105 L, 55 mm, f/4.0, 2 sec

Great shots Bernoulli !! Specially that one with Jupiter and a thin crescent moon ! Real similiar to mine !

It was getting kind of foggy on this night so I decided to get a shot of our group (www.bsraaa.org (external link)). 50D 12mm f/4 20sec ISO800 tripod mounted.

Jeff , thanks for posting this shot , neat to see fellow astronomers having fun ! Do you use that green lazer instead of a finderscope ?

The great shots in this post inspired me to try some new stuff, so here are my first attempts at the Milky Way (very faint around here), Pleiades, and Andromeda. I know these are awful, I really have no idea what I'm doing with this kind of photography, but I was just happy I was able to even find this stuff at all. All taken last night 10-30-10

A hint of the Milky Way, first time trying for the Milky Way.

Three from me....

The first 2 are of the sun and were taken during some bushfires in 2006/2007. The smoke gave it an eerie red colour and allowed a large sunspot to be clearly seen. 2 different exposures.

And one of the moon (from memory taken with a 100-400).

IMAGE: http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g171/daleporter/Nature/moon002-100-web.jpg

Currently just a P&S, but watch this space.

This was posted before in my moon thread.
Next up I want to try Andromeda, I have a hard time with my big lens finding it though.

The second shot was at 400mm

I like that second one, oldno7. It's quite a unique approach.

Thanks a lot Steve.

That would be a good phase of the Moon to try HDR with. Then you might be able to get the Earth Shine as well as detail on the crescent without blowing it out.
