you're faster than I am.. couldn't zoom in on these critters in the air, let alone focus or capture them!!

The trick to dragonflys i found is to watch them for a few minutes. They tend to run up and down a particular path and hover on a spot along the way.
Find the sweet spot and focus to that and wait. They will hover for a few seconds which is plenty of time if you are prepared. Set to drive mode and snap away. You'll be sure to get some shots. Oh and manual focus.

Nice captures. The focus on the 2nd one looks better. Also there appears some noise in the 1st one. Is the first one cropped? You did a great work capturing these guys!
