What's new in DPP++ Plugin 4.2
  • The RGB histogram becomes interactive. Now you can change the white point and the black point of the RGB histogram directly in the RAW Tab.
  • A subtil feedback has been added to the apply raw settings buttons to know which settings button is currently applied.

What is DPP++ Plugin ?

DPP++ is a plugin-like program for the Canon Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software . It enhances the original Canon software by adding some useful functions. DPP++ offers 5 new functions :

  1. A tool similar to the measure tool of photoshop, which allows to correct the angle of a pic by drawing a line on the horizon or on a wall in the pic.
  2. The possibility to save the custom aspect ratios defined with the trim tool. The new aspect ratios can be saved automatically and retrieved automatically.
  3. The display of composition lines in the trim tool : Gold lines / Rule of Third lines / Diagonals.
  4. The possibility to save and reload raw conversion settings in just 1 clic. This allow to compare different raw conversions instantly and to apply a set of settings to an image in just 1 clic.
  5. he possibility to display an interactive RGB Histogram inside the RAW tab. This allows to avoid switching continuously between the RAW tab and the RGB tab just to look at the RGB histogram or to change the black and white points of the RGB histogram.
The program is completely integrated with DPP Interface.

The program works only under Windows systems (sorry for Mac users).

I received my full version, thanks.

Looking forward to putting the recipes tool to good use. In fact, being able to select between slightly different versions of the same image is a major benefit of the raw approach, IMO, and DPP++ will make those comparisons much more efficient.

I also like the inclusion of the Golden Rule. I've always thought that the thirds were almost the same thing, just a more practical approximation. Too bad I mostly crop at printing stage, within Qimage. I would love to have that option there. Well, I may still use this one as a guideline.

By the way, some time ago you asked for suggestions about other implementations. A few of us mentioned Vibrance and Local Contrast Enhancement (aka Clarity). Just a reminder... ;)

In a few months' time, we shall need a twin-monitor setup to accomodate DPP with all the DPP++ addons :D
